What a good Nigerian CV looks like in 2026
The template gets you the layout. These six rules get you the interview.
One or two pages, never more
Fresh graduates and corpers: one page. Five-plus years of experience: two. Nigerian recruiters skim; extra pages get ignored.
Contact details at the top
Full name, phone number, email and city. Leave out date of birth, marital status, religion and state of origin — they invite bias and add nothing.
Profile, then experience, then education
A 3-line professional summary, work experience in reverse order with 3–5 bullet points each, then education, certifications and skills.
Achievements, not duties
“Increased branch deposits by 18% in six months” beats “responsible for deposits”. AI Writer suggests bullet points like this from your job title.
Plain PDF, sensible file name
Send a PDF named Firstname_Lastname_CV.pdf. Every template here exports to PDF so the layout looks the same on every recruiter's screen.
Tailor it to the advert
Recruiters and ATS software look for the words in the job description. Paste the advert into AI Resume Tailor and it rewrites your CV to match.
Are these CV templates free?
Yes. Browsing every template, filling it in and watching the live preview is free and needs no account. You pay only when you download the PDF (from ₦450, or included in a subscription).
Which CV format do Nigerian employers prefer?
A clean reverse-chronological format: contact details, a short profile, work experience with bullet-point achievements, then education, certifications and skills. Single-column templates like Annie and Connie are the safest for applicant tracking systems; two-column designs like Sasha work well when a human reads it first.
Can I download the templates as Word (DOC or DOCX)?
Templates download as PDF, which is what recruiters ask for and what keeps your layout intact. You can upload an existing Word CV, though — it is parsed into the editor for free.
Do the templates work on my phone?
Yes. The builder has a mobile layout with Fill In, Preview and Customization tabs, and you can pay with USSD, bank transfer or card.
Can I switch templates after I've filled in my details?
Any time. Your content stays; only the design changes. Try a few and download the one you like.
